Reimagined Currency

The two denominations of imagined currency were designed for a present-day Hawai'i where the Hawaiian Kingdom is imagined to still be prominent within society.

These bills highlight King David Kalakaua and Princess Kai'ulani, as well as some of their many interests and activities. Using both iconic monuments of the past as well as modern day buildings, these bills bring Hawaii's past to life. This currency represents many aspects of the Hawaiian culture such as the hula dancers, Hawaiian quilt patterns of ti leaf and plumeria, and Polynesian symbols in a modern approach by using vibrant colors and geometric shapes.
